Stomach crunches & spasm’s?

They are extremely painful. I have started a new routine of stomach exercises that targets the whole area but I can’t get through 1 set without getting a stomach spasm. How do I prevent getting stomach spasm’s while doing crunches? Apple cider vineger is a quick remedy to relieve me from the pain at the moment however it does prevent me from getting them.

two things here:
1.) start your stomach exercise program very slowly, but keep on it. Don’t expect to run into an hour long abs class with no previous exercising. Build up your muscles as you are building up your tolerance.
2.) spasms in general- like Charlie Horses can be indicative of not drinking enough fluids (or too much and diluting your electolytes). Sometimes it’s not enough salt. Yes, we’ve heard how 99% of Americans eat too much salt. What if you are the other 1% though that has a natural diet, sweats a lot, and drinks a lot of water?
